In folkloric tales, undead vampires often visited loved ones and caused mischief or deaths in the neighborhoods they inhabited when they were alive. They wore shrouds and were often described as bloated and of ruddy or dark countenance, markedly different from today's gaunt, pale vampire which dates from the early Nineteenth Century. Although vampiric entities have been recorded in most cultures, the term vampire was not popularized until the early 18th century, after an influx of vampire superstition into Western Europe from areas where vampire legends were frequent However not all vampires are evil, some feed off animals and some can feed on those who are bad, such as a rapist or murderer. Vampires can be allies if the vampire is a good one. They have the ability to turn into animals as well, or to change there looks so you can't tell they are vampires.[/b]
